I don’t even know what day it is! I was in Mission Viejo, CA last week and now I’m in San Francisco, CA. I can’t say enough good things about either location. Can you tell I love California?
I’ve officially started traveling for work and it’s going to be an adjustment. So far this week my work-outs have been:
Sunday-I can’t remember
Monday- 8 miles total walking/running
Tuesday-6 mile walk
Wednesday- 10 minutes running, strength training ~ 20 min (triceps, legs, chest)
Thursday- walked ~1 mile
Friday- walked ~1 mile
Saturday- I anticipate walking a lot tomorrow & also trying to squeeze in a strength session (it’s Friday night as I’m writing this)
Without teaching my regular BodyPump classes, I really need to get creative with my strength work-outs, especially in a hotel gym. I am teaching BP next weekend and I am already looking forward to it :)
So what have I been eating?? Uhh lot’s of really delicious food. Did you know that pretty much every dietitian I’ve ever met is a huge foodie? We are.
Healthy snacking while at work. Watermelon + the best KIND bar ever (Almond & Coconut-mini size) + tea.
I drink my tea unsweetened. It is a nice warm beverage in a cold office that is calorie free. Nice way to stay hydrated.
Have you ever had these? I realize they are marketed towards young children but I couldn’t resist! Barbara’s makes Puffins which is one of my favorite cereals. These were awesome! Not healthy by any stretch of the imagination, but fixed my sweet craving. 2+ servings in a bag, beware!
Whole Foods dinner: Sesame Tofu + Green Beans + Feta, Olive Couscous.
$6 people! Best deal there is in all of Whole Foods. I saved 3 pieces of tofu and 1/2 the green beans for lunch the next day (not pictured).
Laguna Beach. I stopped here on the way home from Mission Viejo. Definitely want to go back and explore more. Lot’s of art galleries & cute stores. I wish I could be a 16 year old on Laguna Beach, preferably Lauren Conrad, they had a pretty sweet life.
On to… San Francisco! I’ve been here since Wednesday and it has been just perfect.
A really cool bean store! We all touched them.
Fresh baked bread. Organic.
We went to the ferry building after work and it is full of the most amazing stores! It reminds me a lot of Chelsea’s Market in NYC.
We then went to Slanted Door for dinner, which is Vietnamese fusion food. Wow. So delicious. We decided to split a bunch of things to be able to try the most! Above was our appetizer: vegetarian roll. I didn’t take any more pictures for 2 reasons: 1. it got too dark & 2. too excited to eat.
Thanks Instagram for making this picture look cool in black & white.
Latte art. Actually, mocha art. This was my dessert/afternoon pick-me-up. Really good coffee place in Haight-Ashbury that I think is also a wine bar?
Cuban food from Cha Cha Cha in the Haight-Ashbury area (district, neighborhood? I don’t know the lingo of this city). Sesame crusted snapper, fried plantains lentils (spelled lantils on the menu so I wasn’t entirely sure I was going to receive lentils, although I don’t know what lantils are), veggies. I forget what kind of aioli was on the fish, but it was super tasty.
Dinner in South San Francisco. The waitress said this restaurant has been here for 50-60 years. Pretty old-school, classic Italian restaurant. Had a nice crisp salad & spaghetti with meatballs. Unfortunately/fortunately I was busy chatting away with fellow RDs that I had a fairly small portion of pasta.
That’s all for now. Enjoy your holiday weekend, I’m working!
